Mike and Gina met and were married in Orange City, Iowa thirty years ago. God blessed them with two children during their ministry at First Reformed Church in Hospers, Iowa, a daughter, Janet, and a son, Troy. After serving there for 5 years, God called them to Thorn Creek Reformed Church in South Holland, Illinois, where they served for 7 years. Two more sons were born there, Kent and Logan. In 2001 they journeyed to Holland, MI, and began ministry at Christ Memorial Reformed Church. These were busy years with four children in school and a large church with numerous responsibilities. Faith Reformed Church in Dyer, IN was their next charge in 2011. This church is situated close to the Illinois border, and is a growing church in the suburbs of Chicago with multiple campuses. With six campuses, Mike was the lead pastor of the main campus in Dyer. Carmel Reformed Church called them to serve their congregation in 2015. This rural congregation is a very family oriented church with many of its members connected to agriculture in some way. They have been serving at Overisel Reformed Church since 2021.
The local church and ministering to the people within it is a passion Mike and Gina share. They do have other interests as well. Mike enjoys reading, walking, hiking, biking, racquet sports, and camping. Gina likes to read, watch movies, grow herbs and flowers, hike, bike, camp, and Facetime their daughter and granddaughter. They also both enjoy playing pickleball.
